First Run
Complete Installation, including the setup guide for your capture card, before starting here.
1. Connect the source
Connect an active HDMI or SDI source to the configured capture input before launching Void Video. The application detects the incoming format and begins displaying video when a valid signal is available.
Start Void Video from its extracted installation folder.
2. Open the menu
Press M. Use the arrow keys to move, Enter to select, and Esc to return or close the main menu. The selected row is blue; a currently active choice is green.
3. Select the capture input
Open Capture → Input and select your card and connector. Confirm that the source picture appears before changing output or screen settings.
If the card is missing or no picture appears, check the cable and source format, then follow the verification steps for DeckLink or Magewell.
4. Verify the output mode
Open Display Settings to confirm the output resolution and refresh-rate choices. If you enable Auto Refresh Rate, first add the modes Void Video is allowed to use under Display Mode Whitelist.
5. Configure the screen
Open Screen Configuration and define the physical screen before tuning how content fits it. Start with Screen and Surface, then use Frame Alignment while looking at the projected test grid.
6. Open diagnostics if needed
Press D to show or hide the diagnostic overlays. They report live render and metering information useful when checking a source or troubleshooting playback.
The built-in web interface also exposes system status and frame captures. See Remote Control.
